My Passion
Gardens are my passion – studying, enjoying, and directing elements from the natural world into welcoming, interactive and inspiring spaces. The raw materials of site, climate, and human perspective make for infinite creative outcomes. My business is to help you envision and achieve for your garden a personal and functional experience of beauty. Exploring ideas and possibilities is the foundation of good design and to that process I bring professional training and 20 years of landscape design, creative drive and dirty fingernails.
Design Focus
My education in Landscape Architecture is from the University of California, Santa Cruz. In the Santa Cruz area I worked in residential design for 15 years designing a wide variety of landscapes, including gardens for families with growing children, rural estates, resource-economical gardens and outdoor gathering places for churches and schools. I am currently licensed as a Landscape Architect in Washington and Idaho to provide design services for your private and public landscape projects.
The Gardening Life
Microcosms of the natural world, gardens are outdoor theaters where our stories unfold. On my pine-studded, basalt outcropping on the South Hill, forest pathways call and sunny borders dance with color, cycling and maturing with the family. We live on the patio in summer and in the winter watch and wait as frozen buds swell and perennials multiply underground. I’ve lived several years now in my Spokane home, as well as a few decades in other locales – planting, mulching, pruning, dreaming and generally finding deep nourishment in the garden. I would love to share my experience and help you envision and realize your unique Eden!
